Republican National Convention

I expect some top-notch entertainment. Keep an eye on the audience though. If He passes security and signs the loyalty oath, God should be there.

Monday, August 30
The convention’s opening-night theme is “The Courage of a Nation.” Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will give an inspirational rendition of “Your Cheatin’ Heart”, and Arizona Sen. John McCain will highlight the roles that crazy ex-POW homosexual communist collaborators play in American politics.
Tuesday, August 31
“Compassion of the American People” is the theme Tuesday, with speakers focusing on Bush’s and Vice President Dick Cheney’s commitment to be compassionate. It’s true, they’ll do it this time. You can believe it. Arnold Schwarzenegger will tell the delegates how the American Dream is possible for anyone with tremendous quads.
Wednesday, September 1
On the evening with the theme “Land of Opportunity,” Vice President Dick Cheney will outline opportunities in the New Iraq. Democratic Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia will try to keep a straight face while outlining Bush’s plan to improve the economy and help American businesses and workers.
Thursday, September 2
Bush will accept the nomination as the “party president” and will outline his vision for “Building a Safer World and a More Hopeful America.” The president will emphasize that he really means it this time. He’ll also speak of his plans for the economy and on Americans’ sense of compassion. We’ll have compassion this time. Really. We will. You just wait and see.

Can’t wait. I love Republican conventions. People are so nice and normal and courteous and prosperous. It’s vastly different from the freak show that turns out for the Democratic convention. Are these people allergic to soap and water? I really have to wonder. Just wanted to add my very positive two cents. Ever since France invaded and took over my avatar, I have found myself approaching life with greater nuance. It’s really given me sensitive new feelings that I never felt sensitively about before. Do you know what I mean?

The kinder, gentler Fred.

I tend to like the Democrat Conventions more… the people tend to be a nice cross-section of American society, bringing blue-collar workers, average middle-class schmoes, and top-level management nicely under one roof. Along those lines, it’s interesting that when Kerry speaks he doesn’t mind dealing with the organized Republican hecklers who show up, trying to use air horns to prevent Americans from hearing how a competent person speaks. Democrat events are open to all and welcoming to all.

In contrast, the stage management of Republican events means that the people attending Bush rallies actually have to sign off on forms stating that they endorse Bush and that the GOP can use their names on advertisements. Dissent is not allowed – or else you get fired, hauled away by police for wearing the wrong T-shirt, etc. While flipping channels the other day, I thought I was getting some advance coverage of the GOP convention but was disappointed that it was only a televised biography of Leni Riefenstahl and her work.

Hear ya!
Saw the CNN “infomercial” on Bush tonight. Can’t wait to see how they’ll edit the RNC.

Welcome to the real world. Hope you stay for a long time and try not to get too weepy about the RNC.

My two cents (actually, one-and-a-half cents Canadian): The Republicans are scared. They know it is their election to win. I can’t wait for the theatrics.

Please find definition of sarcasm in dictionary. Read. Digest. Reread my post in its entirety. haha

As to the rest of you, look at those poll numbers… up up and up for Bush. Two months to go. Hope we can hang on to this. Then, four more years to clean house.

Agony in the Garden of Armageddon

Dear Lord, please teach me right from wrong. truth from lies. I can’t tell the difference anymore.

And while you’re at it, please wipe this smirk off my face. It’s been there so long now it’s frozen in place and my face is hurting.

Amen

Ah Spookie:

What has Bush “lied” about? Got any proof this time? Nope? Too bad. Hahaha ONTO Iran and Syria! Four more years!

Love Chirac

Say it ain’t so, Fred.

I was genuinely hoping that your post wasn’t just a bit of witticism. I was beginning to think that we were actually turning you into a “kinder gentler Freddie.”

Wookie:

Look who I have for my avatar. Inspired to behave the same, watch what I do and not what I say. Keep your hand firmly over your wallet the whole time and watch your back. Vive la nouveau Freddie! A bas Chirac! A bas Dominique de Villepin! A bas la traitrise Francaise!

“I’ve been to war. I’ve raised twins. If I had a choice, I’d rather go to war.”

Oh for the love of God Spookie:

You cannot be that lacking in a sense of humor to understand the gist of why this statement is funny and not meant to be taken seriously?!!! Christ Almighty you Democrats are a dour and dim bunch. haha Like my new avatar. The French have invaded Fred Smith’s computer! First time they have successfully defeated a “superior” force. haha

I think I get the humor. It’s that he believed it when he said it, non?

More hijinks:

Thanks, spooky! I like that pic. Gonna make it my wallpaper.

Just back from a few days in NYC and got a chance to see some of the fuss outside MSG. Saw an anti-Bush protester walking around in stars and stripes underwear, you could see the blood boiling in the veins of the neocons each time the man farted. Loads of police throughout the City, discarded Dunkin Donuts wrappers blowing in the wind everywhere. Sunday’s march seemed peaceful enough, I even joined along as it was the best way to get back to my hotel, much faster than using the sidewalks.

Anyone see the Bush twins at the RNC? Caught part of it, and it was ugly. The highlight was when they disclosed that their parents’ favorite term of endearment was “bushy,” and that they had a hamster that didn’t last too long. Hmm.

Has anyone mentioned Iraq or Saddam bin Laden so far at the Republican National Convention?

Just wondering.
