Republican Primary: Red Hot Mess

Ding ding ding ding!

The polls can give us some insight into this. It would appear at least 12% of likely Iowan republican primary voters are racist assholes. At least 11% of likely New Hampshire republican primary voters are racist assholes. And 35% of the general US voting population are racist assholes. Why? Anyone who has said they would vote for trump in a poll this week must be a racist asshole.

Jindal lays it down:

And remember, this is a man who (at least rhetorically) braved the hellish no-go zones of Paris, London, and Birmingham.

He’s apparently not even aware that Obama isn’t running and couldn’t run even if he wanted to :bravo:
He’s also not aware that he has ZERO chance of winning :bravo:

I liked your old avatar picture better. Always reminded me of that great movie…

I’m a sucker for peer pressure…

Donald Trump is currently the front-runner in the Republican primary. (Nope, it doesn’t need a comment)

Jon Stewart picked the wrong time to retire.

I really like/admire Bernie Sanders. Socialism is such an important idea.

I think they should run this guy:

He best embodies what the party’s about these days.

Fast forward to November 2016. It’s Bush versus Clinton and Clinton wins by a “femmeslide.” Bill Clinton avoids his Come To Cosby moment by announcing he’s going to undergo sexual reassignment therapy as a condition for being allowed back in the White House. Jeb Bush stuns the world by ripping off his rubber facial reconstruction mask in front of cameras and revealing he was really George W. Bush all along.

I agree with the first part, but the second part is not accurate. Bernie is not a socialist, he’s a social democrat which is quite different. And since the United States is already a social democracy I’m not sure what all the fuss is about.

Before people criticize what they have never spent any time listening to, here’s a quick 40 minute introduction to this bat shit crazy socialist named Bernie Sanders. After watching it, please tell me, where’s the crazy? Name one thing he said that is anything remotely close to the red hot mess that is the Republican primary.

I SOOOO agree! That is why I want to invest with YOU!

This criticism augurs well for Sanders’ future:

The Obama Presidency - from “Socialist” to “Dictator”

Draft-dodger attacks war hero!
Trump said McCain “is a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.” The comment drew some boos from the audience…
Trump said he avoided service in the Vietnam War through student and medical deferments, adding that he did not serve because he “was not a big fan of the Vietnam war. I wasn’t a protester, but the Vietnam war was a disaster for our country.”

The comments about McCain drew rapid criticism from other 2016 hopefuls. In a statement, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry said the remarks make Trump “unfit to be commander-in-chief.” Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush tweeted: “Enough with the slanderous attacks. @SenJohnMcCain and all our veterans — particularly POWs have earned our respect and admiration.”

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker were also quick to condemn the remarks.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz called McCain an American war hero, but sidestepped when asked whether he would condemn the remarks.

“I recognize that folks in the press love to see Republican on Republican violence,” Cruz said. "You want me to say something bad about Donald Trump or bad about John McCain or bad about anyone else and I’m not going to do it.
The rise and fall of Donald Trump? Won’t hurt him among the far right, whose racism overcomes all else, but may peel off some support among those not quite frothing at the mouth.

Ted Cruz is rubbing his hands here; by previously supporting The Donald, and not abandoning him now, he’s hoping to pick up those racists who feel that although their boy Trump has the right ideas, he may be a wee bit unstable.

I just don’t get the whole Trump thing. It seems to me his only arguable “qualification” to lead a country is that he’s apparently a successful business man right? And that’s what it takes to successfully pull America out of the doldrums? Ok fair point, but where’s the success? I’m not knocking the guy completely, he’s done ok for himself financially, but he’s not that successful when you really analyze it.

He inherited a 300 million dollar company when he was 29 years old and over the next 40 years grew it into 2-4 billion. I know he likes to tack on another 5 billion for “brand value” but that’s not what net worth means. Every independent analysis puts him between 2-4 billion. That’s not exactly a world beating rate or return. He’s a trust fund baby that got a single digit annual rate of return on his daddy’s money, so what? An S&P 500 index fund with re-invested dividends would leave him with more than he has now. So he lost ground to a Vanguard fund and we’re supposed to be impressed?

When you take away his wealth (which anybody here would be worth the same or more if our daddies gave us a few hundred million when we were in our 20’s) take that away and he’s just a racist asshole isn’t he? What other qualifications besides 4 billion in the bank does he have?

There’s lots of trust fund babies with world class arrogance and a complete detachment from the average person, why don’t they run for President too?

Not just an asshole…The Asshole.

To whit:

You know Fred, I’d love to get your actual take on things, but your sarcasm trumps all and I am never sure what you are actually trying to say. Can you try and be straight forward and tell us why you think Sanders isn’t the perfect candidate for the office?

Cruz is actually being smart here. He knows trump will drop out eventually and he wants the scraps. Unfortunately for Cruz, he will never have much more support than trump has now.

And why trump? Recent history is showing that republicans love them some crazy. He’s never going to be president, but primary voters are fickle. Remember Michelle Bachmann? Godfathers pizza guy? They will move from crazy to crazy over the next few months. My guess is that we will see at least 10 front runners before a candidate is settled on. Cruz is probably next. Santorum is crazy enough to get another poll streak.

So in short, why is anyone surprised that the party of crazy is lining up behind the craziest of them all?

I don’t even understand why there is a debate . Is it because debating at election time is as American as apple pie? Hey ya all , let’s vote in the bought off prick that is least likely to fuck over our country and destroy what’s left quicker than the other guy. Absolutely surreal.
