Restaurants with Aussie or USA Meat

[b]Desperately seeing great eateries that have meat from non-Buddhist countries. My other half whom is Muslim can only eat meat from places like Australia, USA, Canada … unless it is Halal. Seafood is fine though …

I am interested in hearing about (names, numbers, addresses and your comments) about places anywhere in Taiwan. We do get to travel about a bit and are always looking.

Not terribly pricey … but a good deal for the buck we pay!

Halal restaurants in Taipei

Way cool! :notworthy:

But I didn’t see anything on here that would serve Lamb Biryani. :help:

Mucho thanks

I am honestly curious as to why country of origin matters. American beef isn’t generally butchered according to the halal rules, AFAIK. ???

Is there something different about Buddhist countries ?

I am not Muslim so I do not know all of the ins and outs of religion. I do however know that it is very important to him that he does not eat meat that is raised in Buddhist countries.

I am just trying to support him in his religion and find new and great places to take him for meals. That’s all … just trying to support my boyfriend because I love him.

Again, any info is greatly appreciated. It might shed some light for others as well.

Great western food and entertainment run by a great bunch of Aussies (who just happen to be my friends  )

I was actually curious about this too so I did some research yesterday - there are many ‘classes’ of what is deemed acceptable, depending on how strict a Muslim you are, and apparently there is some tenet that says ‘what is acceptable to the Jewish/Christian faith’ (in terms of meat preparation) is acceptable to Muslims. There’s also stuff like ‘if you’re not sure, it’s OK’ but it’s very convoluted. (Because the people who actually do the butchering might well be atheist or Buddhist, even though the country is Christian, but it’s still OK, because you’ve done the best you can.)

So the upshot is meat from generally Christian countries is deemed to be OK, but that from a ‘known’ Buddhist country like Taiwan is unacceptable (unless specifically known to be halal etc.). That’s my interpretation anyway

As I live in Hsinchu and have heard of Banjo’s … I actually emailed them weeks ago to ask what the origin of their meat was. I didn’t receive a reply. So I have not gone. I have previously checked their website and it also did not indicate whether it was Aussie or other meats.

DO you know if it is or is not Aussie Meat?

and yes, if the meat is raised and butchered in a Buddhist country, you would probably never find a Muslim who would eat it. Christian and Jewish countries are fine.

thanks all
