Return of the US Coast Guard to Taiwan?

Interesting but I think the US govt prefers a more “hands off” approach.

They don’t want US units’ boots on the ground in Taiwan or it’s offshore islands. If it wanted that, it would’ve kept the US military presence in Taiwan. The US military presence in Taiwan was welcomed, unlike in Okinawa.

Thats only some blogger writing. He knows a lot about Taiwan, TRA, etc., but doesn’t fully understand the details.

Yup besides that the coast guard only guards the territory of the United States

The US would have to acknowledge that Taiwan is a territory of the United States

In the argument that Taiwan is a military territory of the US, coast guard returning would make perfect sense.

But the USA does not want that

Reading the blogger’s original post that lead to this topic, it seems like he’s just engaging in a lot of wishful thinking.

Yup, I want a Ferrari still. But my reality is more FIAT.
