I thought the whole Rev. Wright thing was a nice way of showing white people that they don’t have a monopoly on nutty preachers.
I have a curiosity about nutty black preachers now - certainly there must be more than one, right? Do the children of black parents who take them to nutty churches have any specific music they listen to as a form of rebellion? Music for white kids whose parents have nutty religious beliefs is a pretty big genre, Ozzy, Marilyn Manson, Black Sabbath, and the more modern stuff I am not familiar with.
What I mean to say is, if you are a black teen whose folks take you to some nutty church, and you need to listen to something that would horrify your parents for balance, what do you listen to? White people satanic music? Or do black teens rebelling againt their too-evangelical parents have an “antichrist superstar” of their own? Cuz if they do, I would sure love to hear some. :lick:
