Revenge Porn Please Help

Really not sure where best to post this.

Recently it has come to my attention that unfortunately, some private videos of my girlfriend and me have been leaked onto the internet, and subsequently posted across many websites throughout China and Taiwan.

I have found a service that specializes in takedowns of this type of thing. However it’s a US based company and although they have assured me that they are capable of doing takedowns even for Chinese websites, I strongly suspect that a Taiwanese or possibly Chinese company that does this kind of work will be better at it. My tendency would be to trust a Taiwanese company more.

I do not want to subject her to the trauma of telling her that the videos are out there if I can avoid it, otherwise I would ask her to help me find a company. As it is, I don’t have nearly the language ability to search out such a service on my own.

Please, if anyone can help me find or is aware of a Taiwanese or Chinese company that offers this kind of service, please let me know ASAP, thank you.

This post raises a number of issues.

But first and foremost this is not revenge porn. This is you filming yourself and your girlfriend having sex and then somehow contriving to allow those videos to fall into the hands of other persons.

I have no advice for you.

But they haven’t detailed how it became public. It could be.

I thought revenge porn was a jilted lover type action? I guess one of the two could have an ex-lover in the wings, or a threesome gone wrong.

I see what you are saying. This sounds more like data theft, possibly a la the Fappening in 2014 (god I wish a better name stuck).

Hire a lawyer who specializes in internet and copyright. He can file DMCA takedown notices to those websites. But once it is out there there is no chance of getting rid of it 100%.

Now, since you and your girlfriend made the video, you should know who else could have gotten hold of it. Sue them with the help of your lawyer for uploading it to the internet. This won’t help with the problem, but that person must be punished. In Taiwan you can file a civil lawsuit after that for monetary compensation of emotional distress and public humiliation.

As a foot note, nowadays there is so much professional free porn out there, I doubt your video will be very popular.

Making private videos is always risky in a digital age where with a few clicks it can be shared to the whole world. Best way to keep your privacy is not to make videos/pictures in the first place.

Thing is this type of video is a genre of its own. Especially if it’s presented as revenge porn.

I suppose I shouldn’t be so surprised that the majority of responses here are completely unhelpful and seriously going to start making a fuss about semantics? I do know who stole it and it was posted maliciously but currently that’s the least of my concern. My girlfriend will lose her job and get blackballed probably at every employer in the country if her current employer is informed of it.

I’ve already found it circulating on over 20 websites and multiple friends notified me about it so I’d say it’s popular enough.

A lawyer is not going to have the technological know-how to handle this.

I need a service that will first search the entire web for the files and discover where they are currently uploaded, then continue to monitor on a daily basis probably for at least a month or two before there’s really a good chance of it being stamped out.

Like I said it’s easy enough to find a company that does this searching in English and finding US based companies. In fact I’ve already hired one.

But I would feel a lot more secure finding a Taiwanese company to do the same, considering the websites of most concern are being hosted in China/Taiwan and naturally the domain owners are Mandarin speakers as well.

Dunno if this is helpful: have you tried searching for services in Korea that can help with this? Illegally taken photos put online are a big deal there, and often in the news - they may also have a better ecosystem for addressing the problem. Of course there’s likely to be a language barrier, but a Korean company is probably going to be better at handling East Asian websites than an American company would be.

I don’t think that take will work with your girlfriend.

Do you read Chinese?

My first question would be, how did it get out there?

Best way to avoid this is to not have videos of sex acts to begin with.

Or if you are going to take videos of it, at least keep it secured and not on a hard drive on your computer where a hacker can get to it. Just lesson for the future.

I hate to say it, but if your video is popular enough there’s little you can do to take it down. You can issue takedown notices but if it’s spicy enough it will get shared on porn hub, pirate bay, and many torrent services where it is impossible to take them down. Believe me, if it was possible all the movie, music, and software companies would have done it. And as you know pirate software is everywhere…

I don’t know why you would do a video of your business, but as far as I know most girls in Taiwan would strongly object to any videos of their sex acts, because they know it can be used for blackmail later on. So was it taken without her permission? Like you know a hidden camera? If so you have very big problems.

A post was split to a new topic: From Revenge porn

I really hope OP did not videotape his GF without her consent.

Don’t. Film. Yourself. Having. Sex. And. Definitely. Don’t. Show. Or. Send. It. To. Others. If. You. Do.

The only way this would’ve become public is if you at least told others about it… more likely you sent it to someone. The whole thing sounds shady so I don’t have a lot of sympathy for you, but for your girlfriend’s sake I hope it gets scrubbed off the Internet. It’s kind of like putting the toothpaste back in the tube though.

Let me save you a lot of trouble and frustration (and some cashola): you cannot have something removed from the internet once it has started to spread. Just ask Beyonce or Jennifer Lawrence.

You may be able to have limited success in removing it from some places, but never all of them, and the likelihood is that it will eventually end up back on the ones you had it removed from (if it’s a good enough porn in this case) since people will find it on the ones you missed and re-share it.

There is just no stopping it, and unfortunately if you don’t understand this then you don’t understand the way the internet works - hopefully just due to temporary lapse of sense caused by the emotional impact of the event.

The only tangible thing is to go after the person responsible for releasing it in the first place.

Possibly showed and shared with a mate/mate’s?

Have a look on PornHub I have! search ‘my Taiwanese girlfriend’ lot’s of them!

Did the girl consent to having a video taken?

If so then she should have understood the consequence.

If not the OP has very big problems.
