Starting in February 2023, people can add Visa debit cards issued by Chunghwa Post to Google Pay as a payment option, the state-run postal service operator said yesterday.
Now the post office bank app is also in English!!!

It’s a big pain in the ass what you gotta do is that you apply for the activation code online, then, unless you have a physical card reader with your computer, you gotta go physically to the ATM to activate it with the activation code given from step 1. After that you go to the app and set up your login details. It makes you punch in the details of the bank account number or something like that first then you put in your username and password
I did indeed activated that via ATM, very cumbersome, did long time ago.
Also the ATM options are kinda confusing you have to go down through the options to find the activate services button which is among the last options
Is it in Chinese language menu only? (I don’t remember if their ATM’s have English)

Wasn’t too bad. A bit annoying that you first set a 6 digit username and password then activate with a code at ATM, then login and change username password to something more secure.
Enabled biometrics in the app and use my fingerprint.

Yeah haha you got lucky too because they just added the English services for the post bank about a month ago

I learnt that this is not an FOI matter. I went all the way to mediation with the FOI and Line bank, and the FOI adjudged that this is a matter of financial supervisory enforcement, so exclusive responsibility of the FSC, it is not a case of consumer dispute.
I have already lodged a complaint with the FSC with the FOI findings and awaiting their reply.
If you want u can already send a complaint about this to FSC directly, the FOI will reject it instead.
Let’s wait until we hear about Line Bank. Then we can mass report them and the FSC will know what’s up. 
Did anybody ever complain to the FSC about foreigners specifically being excluded from using the app? Or will it likely not be useful?
I might do it at some point when I have time/can be bothered, though tbh I don’t really use my Richart account anymore now they’ve reduced the interest rate and I have credit cards instead. I only use it now to pay rent each month without a transfer fee. And logging into the website each time just irritates me (how did they manage to code it so that Chrome misinterprets the fields and tries to autofill them all with the wrong info?).
In case anyone wonders what will happen when the ARC card expires that was used for the registration:

No Taishin bank in close proximity to my home, so I guess I’ll just wait it out until I randomly pass by one (while it’s open)

The captcha field is of type telephone number. This works as their captcha is just numbers.
I use KeePassXS for credential safe keeping and there I can generate custom entry sequence to ignore that. Just click on the first field and hit the auto type shortcut button.
