Ripping DVD's

  1. Can anyone recommend a better (free) DVD ripping download to DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 ?

  2. Also, can anyone shed any light on a problem I’ve been having: When I burn a copy of the DVD (using DVD Decrypter and then Nero Express) the movie seems to play fine. But when I try to use the main menu features (e.g. select a language, view deleted scenes, interviews with the cast, etc) I seem to have problems getting it to do what I select. It might jump around randomly between the various features, or play a feature I didn’t select.

Yours, confused.

Thanks

What kind of media are your burning to? Brand, rated speed, burned speed? What kind of burner do you have? Do you use the ‘verify media’ option when burning? What kind of DVD player do you have? Have you tried the disk on other players? It sounds like read errors to me, but more information is needed to see where the fault may lie.

jlick - thanks for your response.

Your questions have given me the prompt to try a few other options I hadn’t thought of. I will write back if I still have problems.

Thanks

I have always used DVD Shrink. It is free, compresses dual layer DVD’s to single layer capacity, removes all regional encoding, and rips straight to ISO to be viewed from your HDD or to be burnt later. Also contains no spyware/adware.

For your other issue, I always use VLC as my media player. It is small, stable, and contains no crap. Also lets you view the ISO’s you ripped of the DVD’s from Blockbuster without burning.

Mac the ripper does a good job for me.

I second DVD Shrink.Very easy to use and works for 95% of DVDs.
