Road bicycle recommendations

Someone mentioned the Giant Escape earlier, but considering all the pros you guys mentioned – flat bar, light weight, mtb style disc brakes – the Giant Fastroad seems to tick all the boxes.

disc brakes are great, especially for rainy days. and they also mean you can ride OK without fixing wonky wheel rims.

not that you shouldn’t straighten rims that go out of true: straight wheels also roll better.

Is a Giant SCR 2 a good bike to get into cycling?

Also, what is the difference between the SCR 1 and Contend 1? Both are the same price.

From what I can tell, the components are relatively the same, but it looks like the geometry of the frames are different. It looks like the SCR1 is more of a luxury commuter bike and the Contend is a touring bike.

If you aren’t against buying second hand, a local brand or trying something outside of Giant/Merida, you can hit up @ttwan and his shop over near Da Dao Cheng wharf and Di Hua Street.
