Good news all around I should think. Maybe those poll numbers are going to change by November. A few more pieces of good news and things may turn around? What do you say fellow fans? haha
The decision by a special prosecutor not to bring charges against Karl Rove in the C.I.A. leak case followed months of intense behind-the-scenes maneuvering between the prosecutor, Patrick J. Fitzgerald, and Mr. Rove’s lawyer, lawyers in the case said.
Mr. Fitzgerald’s decision left I. Lewis Libby Jr., the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, alone among current and former White House officials still facing legal jeopardy in the three-year-old leak case. Mr. Fitzgerald announced in a letter to Mr. Luskin on Monday that he would not indict Mr. Rove, who had testified on five occasions to a federal grand jury about his involvement in the disclosure of an intelligence officer’s identity.
After months in which the case has been a major distraction to the White House, the decision frees Mr. Rove in his role as Mr. Bush’s top strategist during midterm elections this year. Mr. Luskin declined to address the legal issues surrounding the case but said, “We believe that the special counsel’s decision should put an end to the baseless speculation about Mr. Rove’s conduct.”
Will the Democrats realize what a QUAGMIRE they are in going after Rove, and I question their strategy that has brought them no closer to success. How many more tinfoil hats will be crushed on the net, before they realize they embarked on a War they couldn’t win?
haha. That is the weakest comment you have made in a long long time spook. You are definitely slipping… Whoo hoo! Oh by the way, I think you will be sans my comments for a while. I am off again… Have fun in the meantime and get together with Bob to see if you two can string a better argument together. Between the two of you, you might be able to come up with something?
Thank you, Fred. Have a safe, enjoyable trip. Here’s something to ponder while you sip your rum and cokes and stare off into the sunset:
"The grand jury’s indictment charges that Mr. Libby committed five crimes. The indictment charges one count of obstruction of justice of the federal grand jury, two counts of perjury and two counts of false statements.
Before I talk about those charges and what the indictment alleges, I’d like to put the investigation into a little context.
Valerie Wilson was a CIA officer. In July 2003, the fact that Valerie Wilson was a CIA officer was classified. Not only was it classified, but it was not widely known outside the intelligence community.
Valerie Wilson’s friends, neighbors, college classmates had no idea she had another life.
The fact that she was a CIA officer was not well- known, for her protection or for the benefit of all us. It’s important that a CIA officer’s identity be protected, that it be protected not just for the officer, but for the nation’s security."

There you go again… quoting without pointing out relevance… The charges against Libby are allegations. He is innocent until proven guilty and thanks for all of this regarding Plame. I am sure that her life was directly in danger every night of her life. Living with an old bore like Wilson could not have been easy, hence perhaps maybe there were other reasons why she recommended him twice for the trip to Niger and maybe that is why Wilson lied about it so frequently? Could be? maybe? yes?
Accused is the operative word here. So we should be treating Libby like a criminal just because he has been accused? And I thought you people were worried about all the rights constitutional and civil that we were all losing because of the Patriot Act? I guess you are not really so worried after all. I mean an American citizen like Libby should be treated as guilty because he is “accused” but in the meantime, any dirtbag caught on the field fighting in Afghanistan or elsewhere is to be given exalted treatment and the full rights of an American citizen because they are terrorists? Just to show how benevolent we are to the Other? or what exactly? I see you are plenty concerned about Guantanamo and yet? when it comes to an American citizen’s rights? Nothing? Oh that’s right. You are concerned about a woman’s life right? because Libby’s alleged actions were of such great danger to her sitting as she was behind a desk with her husband gunning for any publicity that he could get so that would be extenuating circumstances of such import that they would justify taking away Libby’s constitutional rights? Did I miss anything here?
Rove was never a target in the investigation about “outing” a CIA agent…The Neo-Jacobin thug named Richard “Dick” Cheney is the target. That treasonous dog (doing the bidding of George P. Schultz) is the filth behind this particular scandal.
BUT: it is nice to see that another Keyboard Kommando gets some thrills from the news that Rove will not be indicted in the near future…
It still amazes me to see people put the interests of a small group of extremists before the interests of thier own country! And not even get paid for it?!
Somehow I think saying that you think Libby is a dickhead is not the same as stripping him naked, piling him up with other prisoners, sicking the dogs on him, and connecting electricity to him.
No one is saying indictment is proof of guilt. Neither is being indicted by a grand jury or narrowly escaping indictment a badge of honor though or something to be celebrated.
In better times, all but a few bad apples in an administration would be above suspicion. The best we can hope for from either Democrats or Republicans these days though apparently is something on the order of “often suspected, rarely convicted – and proud of it”
