It has nothing to do with the computer. A runtime error is, as the name suggests, an error that occurs when a program is running. There are various reasons why it can occur, but they are all due to the same problem: Poor programming.
You can only stop it from happening by not running that particular program, or by getting the software vendor to fix it.

It could be because the software wasn’t correctly installed, because, say, anti-virus was running at the time.
Dangermouse, you’d really need to give us more info about what the software is, and when the error happens, etc.
