I am looking for a casual weekday or weekend running group in taipei, nothing too serious. Does this exist? If not, would anybody be interested in going for casual runs on the weekend? I’m working in Taipei on assignment and am trying to separate myself from the work by getting out and seeing Taipei and the surrounding areas.
i know theres a running group thats organised and/or sponsored by nike that meet up at the nike store at neo19. not exactly sure when they meet up but when i walk by that area i sometimes see them setting up tables and stuff with signage for a running group
thats all the info i got sorry!

Hi Liza08, I’d like to try to get some kind of group going (to make myself get going), but I am starting from scratch (again), so am a beginner and slow. I live in Banqiao and work in Neihu. Are you interested in running before or after work weekdays? Where do you live/work? What distances or time range are you running? Are you afraid of dogs?
Thanks, Kage
Ok heres what my little lady had to say bout the NIKE running thing:
For jogging, Nike sponsors these group jogs every Tuesday and Thursday (weather allowing) at 8pm. They meet in front of the Nike store at Neo 19 in the Xin Yi area, next to Vieshow Cinema. On Tuesday, they have group jogs for 3K and 5K and on Thursday, it’s 7K. They run from the plaza in front of the Nike store and around the Sun Yat Sen Memorial and back.

If anyone in Taichung is looking for a running club, the largest running club in the country is based here. It is called Bigfoot Running Association and it is very foreigner friendly. It has all levels of runners from national elite runners (including gold and silver medal winners in the National Games) to five-hour marathoners. Sunday morning runs are on hold during the racing season, but we meet for speed workouts at National Chunghsing University on Wednesday evenings. If anyone is interested, let me know by sending me a message.
that the same bigfoot that’s organising the Ataya Cup forest marathon? What’s that all about - my Chinese is too poor. Is it a road or trail race?
I have heard great things from other foreigners about this group. People even go from Taipei to meet them.
Yeah, we have had a teacher from TES join us for some activities here in the Taichung area. There are several members who speak some English and one member is designated to work with the foreign members.
