Running races in Taiwan

Has anyone here taken part in the Standard Chartered Marathon before ? Any good/bad experiences in terms of route scenery, route difficulty (slopes?), water point planning, etc. ? I have been running halfs elsewhere, but thinking of doing my first race in Taipei in Jan next year.

I did it this year. It starts out by the presidential building then heads up and joins the riverside park up in Neihu where it remains for the rest of the race. It’s relatively flat apart from a few bridges, and pleasant enough, the end point is in a different location to the start but they take your bag there so it’s not really a problem. I think it’s all booked up now though?

Thanks … sounds like a good manageable route. Registration is closing end of this November … so will be signing up soon. :slightly_smiling_face:

You should sign up the soonest you can, as this is a popular race in Taipei. The race is generally well-organized and well-supported with enough water supply points. In any case, you need to balance between drinking enough to hydrate and not too much that you need to keep running for the toilet, as it is rather cold in Jan.

If you are keen on races outside of Taipei, you can consider these for 2019:

Thank you - good advice on the weather

Is there nothing in the Taoyuan area?

Here’s another good resource for running races.
