TBH I dunno much about grammar. Nearly always disappointed Taiwanese co-teachers with my standard “Ï don’t care” answer to “trainspotting grammar” questions. Only matters if it introduces ambiguity.
A term also applied to arrows, which I’d guess is probably its origin. Arrows are more expensive than bullets, but cheaper than drones, so they would occupy a middle ground for life-is-cheap illustrative purposes.
Nuclear weapons are probably life-is-cheapest, showing economy of scale.
I think at that point, it has ceased to be a fedora, and entered into the realm of German Trachtenhüte… A Jägerhut with feather Trachtengesteck, perhaps?
Right-wing influencers like Tim Pool, Dave Rubin, Benny Johnson (never heard of him, but apparently has over 6 million Maga followers) and others have been revealed to be scooping up millions for spewing Russian propaganda.
Their defence is two-fold:
1-“I’m too stupid to realise that this previously unknown person who was paying me $100,000 a week for repeating Russian government views might have some connection to the Russian government.”
2- “I would have been spreading anti-American pro-Russian propaganda anyway, so I wasn’t really being bribed.”
Britain has also guaranteed multiple tranches of World Bank loans to Ukraine and many British financial institutions have purchased billions’ worth of Ukraine’s bonds
Well, Ukraine could default, and then thise bonds are worthless, is my guess why they state that.
I was going to say it’s a good summary, though I might phrase a few things a little differently We talked about it a bit in the Media Objectivity thread.
The US and UK are about to authorize Ukraine to use long-range Storm Shadow missiles to strike military targets deep inside Russia. Russia will then retaliate by striking NATO targets, in Poland for example. It will be off to the races then as both sides escalate until tactical nuclear weapons are launched. Now would be a good time to put any finishing touches on that place in the mountains you’ve got set up for when the shit hits the fan
If Russian long range missiles launched from Mexico with the necessary targeting and launch assistance of Russian military personnel began hitting airfields deep inside the US the US would regard that as an act of war and go ballistic. Hardliners in Russia will likewise begin agitating for retaliation against US and NATO targets as Russian military and civilian casualties mount and it’s just a matter of time before they prevail.
In this hypothetical situation, did the US start an unnecessary war of aggression against Mexico?
If Russia can’t beat Ukraine armed with western weapons, how can they possibly beat the full might of the western military alliance? Striking NATO targets can’t work well for Putin. Most likely he’s holding off on escalation until after the US election. If Trump wins, that probably means the end of US support for Ukraine.
