Salvation is by faith alone, but?

Matthew 19:4

Genesis 3 (the story of the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.
Psalm 51:5 "I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin and Paul’s Epistle to the Romans5:12-21 “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned”.

but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it is better for him that a heavy millstone be hung around his neck, and that he be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Sorry 19:4

That doesn’t say we’re sinful because of Adam’s sin.

Before Adam’s sin, there was no sin.

In this way (sinning)death came to all people. We all brought death by sinning, the same way Adam did.

I won’t argue with you about what Baptists think, but Mormons don’t think Catholics are a cult. We have the most positive views about people of other religions.

Well that’s great. Most protestants I have met do think they are a cult , but they also think Jehovah’s Witness are a cult. Personally , I don’t think either are nor is it my business.

Baptists generally never baptise little children as baptism in their view is done only when one is conscious of what they are doing and really understands it. Belief comes before Baptism in their view. I think they are right on that too.
Although Baptists have many independent churches which vary a bit.

In context, Jesus was saying to have faith like a child:

“People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Adults often have more complex thought processes and may be burdened by past experiences, doubts, and intellectual barriers that complicate their acceptance of faith.

Trying to think like a child is a recipe for disaster, generally speaking.

Yeah true. However, Einstein I think said something about keeping the curiosity of a child was a part of what made him the way he was.

No one can beat a child for curiosity. Sounds legit.

Or innocence, which is the point Jesus was making.

As far as who’s evil and who’s going to Hell we Catholics believe in playing it safe and leaving that all up to God:

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
– Luke 6:37

I don’t know about that ask some English teachers about kids and innocence especially when they’re armed with scissors lol

I actually agree but I get flack from fellow protestants about the who goes to heaven part. Yes, it’s there in scripture. However those are translations of scripture etc.
I agree with you it is only God that decides that and not earthly preachers. If someone asks me that I will just say " In scripture it says … but ultimately God decides." I think that’s heretical but ok I’m fine with that.

Speaking of condemning do you think Jesus is a supporter of the death penalty?

I’ve always found it ironic that so many followers of Jesus are supporters of the death penalty.

I never understood that logic. Believe in me and you will be saved. Why? How?

The whole thing does not make sense to me. God loves you like a father. He sacrifices his son to save you. He is almighty. Why go through all this? We made a mistake, alright. Can you not just forgive us and let us back in your paradise? You do love us, don’t you? Why have us go through all that pain? And about that mistake. Why did you tempt us in the first place? Why did you ever introduce temptations? What kind of game is that?

The purpose of this sliver of physical existence at the beginning of our eternal life is to allow us to freely choose who and where we want to be for eternity. A lot of people reject Jesus during life but at the moment of their death they stand before him and watch their lives play out before them in detail from beginning to end. They have a final chance then to accept or reject Jesus and all he stands for.

Yeah, but why to make that decision? Why the whole testing thing? What is the point of that? Why not let everyone live in paradise, no questions asked?
