What is sandman’s group called? When will they be playing? And how do you describe their style (since I have never heard them play before . . . . ?) Something like a cross between Petula Clark and Janis Joplin?? Or more of a combination of the Rolling Stones and Brazil '66??
Totally off-topic, but since you asked.
The group’s called Dave Chen and the Muddy Basin Ramblers and it’s Dave’s group, not mine, me being only a humble sideman.
We’ll be playing next tomorrow night at the Living Room at around 10 pm. According to the blurb on the Living Room website,
David Chen and the Muddy Basin Ramblers play a mix of early blues, jazz, hokum, and original tunes, paying tribute to popular blues and jazz musicians of the 1920s and 30s such as Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Big Bill Broonzy, Bo Carter, Memphis Minnie, Cab Calloway, and Bessie Smith. They draw their inspiration from the jug bands of the early 20th century, where bands made music with anything that “made a noise” from empty jugs and cans to guitars and horns.
Time: 10:00-12:00am
“Hot tamales and red-hots, yeah we got 'em for sale!”
Come one come all. Because where else are you gonna hear songs featuring dual ukuleles and kazoo extravaganzas?
Sandman, that sounds awesome…any chance of you boys coming to kaohsiung?
Well, we all went down to the crossroads and sold our souls to Springheel Jack not so long ago, so it’s really up to the dark lord where we play.
“Hot tamales and red-hots, yeah we got 'em for sale!”
is tamale 她male ? English for she-male ?
