some people have mentioned that they aren’t impressed with the coverage of the world cup on regular cable … talking through the minute of silence, repeatedly telling us how tall each player is (rather than perhaps which team they play for, or previous experience) … anyways, at least we get to see it.
still, if you want uninterrupted english commentary, and don’t want to head out to taipei, go to river. kim has got satellite installed, and a huge pull down screen on the second floor in the restaurant. 1st and 2nd games will be shown there (third you might have to go downstairs for regular cable). she aslo has a carlsberg beer special on, which works out to 2 pints for $180 NT i believe. food is pretty good too!
