If you are watching casually, SBL is actually fun to watch. However, if you are watching from a technical standpoint, it can be painful. It’s all the bad decisions. I don’t know if it is the coaches or the players, but here are some examples…

Your team is up by 15 points with 7 minutes left in the game. Why are you jacking up a 3pointer within the first 3seconds of the possession? In the SBL, it’s pretty easy to get a good look on a 3 pointer. If your team is up, the better option is to find an easy basket and run down the clock. If a better option doesn’t show, take a 3.

Your team is down 5 with the final seconds left. No matter what, you still need at least TWO shots to tie or win. Your teammate is OPEN UNDER THE BASKET, yet, you decide to shoot a 3? To make it worse, you miss the shot.

No respect for big men. The guards and forwards don’t wait for their big men. To make it worse, they don’t even work the ball through their big men in a half-court setting. Thus, defenses cheat and get away with it. This is actually the reason why China didn’t medal in 2008. With Yao, China should have done better. I feel so bad for Yao. If Yao’s teammates worked the offense through him, Yao would have either scored 30-40points a game, or his guards would have got open jumpers because Yao would be doubled or tripled teamed. Yao was right to have been pissed…too bad the Chinese government and press didn’t agree. But that proves the point, No respect for big men.
