Hey guys, your site has been a great wealth of information in my process of figuring out a Taiwan trip to learn Chinese. I’ve looked at several schools and have found alot of potential. However, I’m still trying to figure out if there are any scholarship opportunities other than the Huayu Mandarin Enrichment ones from MOE. Guess I tried for that one, but got denied. Wonder if it hinders my chances since I’m not planning to do a degree or anything while I’m there. I’m waiting on replies from a few schools, but I figured I’d ask you guys for recent updates and solicit your wisdom. Tried the Search function, but no mention of any specifics…

There are two other types of scholarships available:
Those provided by your home country (search for Chinese Associations or contact local universities that teach Chinese for info. These may or may not be available, depending where you live; Rotary usually has them though).
Those provided by individual language centers in Taiwan (you need to contact each and ask).

Has anyone any experience with this as a recipient? Are you required to give a speech at a Rotary meeting or have other commitments if you are awarded the scholarships?
