Scoozi in Tienmou

Now they claim THIS is the best place for pizza in Taipei. Anyone tried it yet?

address: 762 Chungshan North Road, section 6, Italian for “scuzsi” (excuse me).

“perhaps the tastiest pizza in town” according to TT

Went there today for lunch, was o.k., but nothing overwhelming. Salads pseudo-modern (i.e. small portions, loads of trendy stuff like pine etc, smothered in too much sauce …), pizza good (good crust, nicely thin dough, tasty sauce and good toppings). On the plus side I’d also note that they give you chilli, some basil stuff and chopped garlic in olive oil with your pizza so you can expand on the taste according to your individual likings. I also thought the fact that the pizzas were slightly smaller than I’ve seen in Taiwan so far is more positive than not as they seem to be just the right portion (for me?). Bring a sweater though, they had gail-force winds going on in there …

We’re new in town and the only comparison we’ve got so far is Rialto on ZhongShanBeiLu, which was a disappointment in the light of all the praise we’d heard about them earlier. Also in stark contrast to the Rialto on/near Kuangfu Rd./SunYatSen Memorial Hall that we went to once some years ago and which we thought was phantastic!

So far, Hsinchu beats Taipei regarding Italian Restaurants, but I guess we have a lot more places to try out, right?! Xpet.

Finding ourselves in Tienmu and in the mood for pizza last night we stopped into Scoozi on Chung Shan North Rd near the Taipei American School. We had a nice dinner of pizza and Lasagna there. The atmosphere is quite nice, soft unobtrusive music, not overly lit or dim, nicely appointed. The service was good, pretty attentive, just had to ask for a refill once. Staff spoke English well.

We had the Montalcino pizza, NT$380, with tomato sauce, marinated grilled chicken breast, saut

Actually right next door to Scoozi’s is a deli. It is owned by the same guy who owns Scoozi’s and he has just a great deal on his sandwiches in there.

The owner is no slouch either. He came to Taiwan to open with the Hilton Hotel Group, and then started the Ritz on ChungHsiao, before partnering to form the Landis group. He’s African from the slave coast.
