I’m foreign student in the Taipei university and humidity has made some problems for my music instrument.
It seems that I have to prepare a second hand dehumidifier.
Anybody can guide me about this issue?
Thanks
My guidance would be… buy a second-hand dehumidifier? I see them fairly regularly on Facebook marketplace and in the second-hand groups.
Which instrument?
There’s a hard off near Neili train station. They have all kinds of stuff, including dehumidifiers.
Thank you so much.
I try to visit there and hope to find it in reasonable price.
Thanks a lot
Ok. You can always pack the case with anti damp products. They’ll absorb moisture.
Dehumidifier only really work if you have an enclosed space. Most rooms in Taiwan is drafty as heck and the thing will run nonstop. They have one of those dry boxes, even guitar sized, but they’re expensive. Also, you gotta take your instruments out to play sometimes, and most venues will have little control.
Dehumidify either with the ac, or at least enough to prevent mold growth. They’re more useful for winter because a dehumidifier will produce quite some heat.
There are dehumidifier bars for pianos I seem to remember. Taiwan is horrendous for pianos, you need to tune them once a month in humid conditions but of course no one does so every piano is out of tune.
NTD600 on Momo.
It will not work because when I dry its skin with a hair dryer, only after 1 minute it goes back to previous sate and I cannot play it.
Its skin is too thin.
Do you play piano?
I’m interested in fusion music. If I had any opportunity for this issue I would be grateful.
If I can find some polymer thin sheets which don’t absorb humidity I can try it on my instrument and know if its sound is good or not.
Moreover I think if I can find any nanomaterial which prevents absorbing the humidity I can rub or spray it over the skin after making it dry.
