"Seednet WT II" free internet in Taipei?

Hi forum,

I just arrived in Taipei and is seeing a free internet service at where I am staying by the name of “Seednet WT II”. I did a little research and find that Seednet is a legitimate company but can anyone confirm if this connection is safe to use? Might have to do some online banking and I want to be safe. The freebie almost seems too good to be true.

Seednet WTII seems to be the name of the generic Wifi Access point for the modem/router Wagaly Talk II.
So, I assume it is the access point of someone that prefer not to secure his connection. (May be it is easier for him/her to connect specific devices on it, like a Wii or other stuff)

Being open means you can connect but also other people. Then, it is not safe to use (Some guys can actually monitor the network and capture your data). Obviously this doesn’t occur often, but we never know.
If you really need to use the connection, insure that you are using HTTPS protocol (Check the URL)

Yes it is.
The guy is using the Seednet modem, the model WTII. So he get Seed.net.tw as ISP.
