No one banged the drum for endless religious war in the Middle East like Graham. Now that he’s gone maybe America’s fanatical support for Israel will undergo a long overdue reset.
Graham had spent weeks arguing that war with Iran was not only justified but necessary, shuttling between Israel and the White House to help Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government press its argument for war. Arab officials had repeatedly warned Graham of the perilous consequences war could unleash. Graham remained unmoved.
It’s hard to overstate Graham’s influence in shaping President Trump’s second-term foreign policy. Washington has never lacked Republicans eager to advocate a more muscular approach to foreign affairs. What distinguished Graham, who died Saturday, was his ability to persuade Trump.
He’s a decent talker, if nothing else. He’s done a handful of interviews on the YouTube channel Channel 5, and the style of banter there and on his Twitter is not too dissimilar.
Cursed are those who exult in death and destruction,
for death will strike them down.
Cursed are those who think God is on their side,
for it is they who should be on God’s side.
Cursed are those who hunger and thirst for blood,
for they will never be satisfied.
Cursed are the merciless,
for they will be denied mercy.
Cursed are the war mongers,
for no one escapes eternal judgment for their crimes.
I like Trey, read his book a few years ago and found that the law firm I was working with at the time were reading it as well. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to have Bessent in the senate— he seems too smart for just Treasury.
With Graham gone and McConnell mysteriously absent, the Republicans are now left with a razor-thin (53) majority in the Senate. It will only take 4 or 5 defectors to stymie Trump’s agenda. So he’s growing (even more!) desperate. I’m going to take this with a huge grain of salt but does any amount of insanity from Trump surprise you at this point?
Nope, not going to work even if he tries. It would not only be massively unpopular (and in a normal time, grounds for impeachment), but he’s forgotten that it takes an act Congress to expel any of its own members. This is clearly beyond the reach of Executive branch even in exceptional circumstances.
Yes Larry Johnson ex cia reckons that’s what happened. Technically possible he had aortic rupture in Kiev (which is quite the coincidence), or was killed in the missile strike on drone factories - either way his body must have been flown directly back from Kiev to DC on a emergency flight.
Johnson says the claimed timeline of travelling back normally via train to Poland then flying from there is impossible timewise
