I’m planning to have a friend buy me a tablet computer (the new Nexus 7) soon in the US, and then send it to me here in Taiwan. Does anyone know if I will have any trouble with customs or other things? Would I have to pay some sort of a tax? Will the item get held up or reject by customs?

Bought my nexus 4 in the us, declared the real value of 349.00 USD.
Paid 5% tax.
Later my colleague ordered one also, 299.00 USD, no tax.
So I guess below 300.00 USD no tax to pay

They seem to enforce the duty randomly but it is 5% if they enforce it. At least that’s what I paid 2-3 times.
