Yeah you have to be really interested in covering some topic first of all. It can’t be about the money. For me I have some interests like tea and coffee and people doing unusual things, or unusual incidents that happened here. But gotta take the time to do it. If it’s about money and exposure you literally have to post something almost everyday and certainly every week. That’s very demanding.
Taiwan lacks vision and is deeply risk-averse so in that sense it’s a bad place for startups. In every other way though it’s golden for startups, so if you can self-fund or find funding outside Taiwan you’re in business.
And to this I always say, it depends what ya doing and selling. If you need to be close to your target market in the West it could be awful .
I’ve got a school in NTC and I’ve been looking at starting an online program. If you speak and write Mandarin and can speak English fluently you would be a great partner to get the business off the ground. When do you want to move to Taiwan?
PM if your interested in Tea/coffee, have something small scale to EU that needs more serious help (local Taiwanese as others said risk adverse)
We are moving in August. Feel free to DM me with some of your ideas. Or if you just want to wait until we arrive, we could meet up for a coffee and a chat. Or both.
Just an FYI, I am also currently applying to some full-time corporate jobs, so we will see how things develop.
What are you doing now? Where are you living?
We are currently in Canada, where we are putting things in order (selling our house, packing, etc.) before we leave in August.
As for work, I was on a government contract until January. We spent mid-January to mid-February relaxing in Thailand, mid-February to mid-March in Taiwan. Now back here in Canada until mid-August.
