“The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” is the new film by Tommy Lee Jones, making his directorial debut at age 60 and he also wrote the screenplay. Won a big award yesterday at Cannes.
But the local Taipei Times newspaper sent a reporter there to Cannes, and he writes in his story today that Jones won an award for acting at Cannes in a movie …titled …“The Three Burials” by Melquiades Estrada.
Dummy! The title of the movie is “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” .
I sometimes wonder… if reporters read press releases or just copy blindly from them?
Said to be a very good film. "I didn’t have to make it,"says Jones. “I wanted to make it.” Good on him for taking the time out from Hollywood to show his real stuff.
Repeat: Melquiades Estrada is not the director of the film, he is a character in it! I guess the reporter was having too much fun at the film festival and couldn’t read Spanish and had too much to drink by the time it came to write his review. At least, he spelled Jones’ name right.
