I’m just curious about the sample selection. I mean, how did they get their subjects? An ad in the newspaper? Perhaps in Brazil it’s just considered a “lifestyle choice” and nothing to be ashamed of.

Ok so before I was struggling to understand the point of science ethics committees based on the fact that I thought things like the Tuskegee experiment were long gone. Now I REALLY fail to see why they have ethics committees if they allow studies into animals and men farking to go ahead.

I’m going to make a bid for a feral child like Victor and revive the forbidden experiment. Why the hell not!

Well, sure. Could be. BUT it might well be associated with other risky behaviour and poor hygenic practice, and perhaps with high frequency (they use the word “intense” in the above quote, IIRC. I assume they don’t mean emotionally).

IF they just used the general population as a control group (and I’m not interested enough to check) it doesn’t tell us anything very specific about the cause.

Anyhoo, if I wanted to screw a coo I would do, and I doubt this’d stop me.
