"sharp" person?

Hi

A friend of mine described me as a “sharp” person. Can any one tell me what that means?

I am a Taiwanese girl living in a western country. I am tring to learn the daily English but found sometimes it is not so easy to catch the true meaning of even a simple vacabulary. Your help is much appreciated.

Don’t worry, it’s a good thing to be called  It means quick thinking, or very observant. We can say someone has “sharp eyes” or is “sharp as a knife”

or ‘sharp’ as in ‘sharp-tongued’… depends on the context.

And what about a “sharp dressed woman”? Is the meaning as positive as a sharp dressed man? Just wanna know:-)

I’ve always been referred to as “sharp as a marble”

I think it can mean 乾脆、俐落、幹練,What Big Fluffy Matthew said may means銳利的眼光,etc.
But Buttercup’s may means 尖牙利嘴…
So, depends on the context. I suggest you to ask your friend next time when you don’t know what does he mean. Good luck for learning English. 一起加油^^

Anyway, whatever it means, its very very important that you have the correct response, which is, and Irishstu will back me on this: “You think I’m sharp, eh? Well, at least I don’t SMELL!”

If you’re talking slang with someone black, then she meant it as a compliment. Meaning you are well dressed and good looking.
