Shi-da grades

hi there,
im going to be studying at shi-da this summer. I currently am a 3rd year undergrad in Canada, one of my courses is a self-directed learning course, so basically you do whatever you want… i was thinking of learning chinese as my goal and use whatever mark i get at shi-da as my mark for this self-directed learning course… i was just wondering if its possible to get good marks at shi-da… not that im gonna try and cruise my way through, all i want to know is if i put in a lot of hardwork well it pay off?.. or are marks generally low regardless of effort… by high i mean 85%+ and low anything below… thanks so much for your help

I believe there is grade inflation at Shi-da. The classes are small so there is no curve.

How the &^ does no curve mean grade inflation?? “No curve” usually means that the students receive the grades they earn, instead of being artificially assigned to a grade relative to the performance of everyone else in the class.

a_c, time to get a life. Try bowling. Or the YMCA offers a variety of interesting classes. I believe they even have one about mixing those bubble tea delights. But do SOMETHING other than reponding to every single post on Forumosa. If you don’t – I kid you not – the Star Chamber will have you in their sights.

ironlady,

Thanks for the advise. I do keep busy when I post. It’s like my smoking break at work. But I don’t smoke. Very stressful.

Basically, what I’m trying to imply is that if you go to class they will give you a good grade for trying.

They won’t flunk you, unless you piss off the instructor or something.
