Has anyone successfully ordered lithium iron phosphate batteries or power stations that use them into Taiwan? I’ve been looking into them because I need to have reliable backup for security purposes.
Ecoflow has some large capacity units, but apparently only the previous generation models are available here. For instance, the local Costco has the Delta 2 for close to MSRP, while on Amazon the newest Delta 3 models (improved battery tech, faster UPS switching, etc) is regularly on deep discount. We pay twice the price for outdated models.
I get that Taiwan is a much smaller market for these things, so little competition to sell to us. I’m willing to pay a premium, but I want what they’re selling in the US now.
Batteries require a lot more paperwork and I think air transport is out of the question. I’m willing to wait a few weeks or months if they can be shipped safely and reliably.
Can someone give me some pointers if they’ve done something like this?
Have not, no pointers, except to say that unless space and/or efficiency are serious constraints there are many other options than the latest and greatest (and most expensive) technology. Throw all the numbers in a spreadsheet and you may find that even lead-acid pencils out beneficially on a long-term cost/benefit basis.
Look in to a company that has a local presence. I’m considering using Voltronic
They may have something that meets your needs. Let me know if it looks right for you I can send you a representatives contact. They’ve given me a decently competitive price and were open and willing to casually meet in person to discuss my needs.
I have looked over lead-acid batteries, as they have been what most off-grid and emergency backup power were based on until recent years.
Space is a minor consideration, but the maintaining and need to vent gasses the batteries produce make me want to avoid them. If you know of people using the old tried and true methods of off-grid and emergency power, I’d appreciate if you share!
There are people on YouTube putting together 2000 watt hour power carts that can power everything one needs for a few hours or overnight.
I live in an area that is basically lawless and the streetlights have been off since last week’s typhoon, and it would have been nice to have more emergency backup power for security lights and surveillance cameras.
I don’t have the Eff Bee, but I’d checked out Coolster’s website, which claims to be Ecoflow’s official retailer in Taiwan and saw they now have the Delta 3, but not yet in stock.
Would be nice to have the Delta 3 Plus, or other models, but beggars can’t be choosers. The 3 series have true UPS and better batteries, supposedly can go 4000 cycles instead of 3000d, and are much quieter.
Thanks! I’ll check them out. 6000 charging cycles? I hope they can put that in writing!
How long have you been using their system? Can you share your experiences?
I don’t think many people have thought about energy storage, because it makes much more sense to sell watts generated by their solar panels to the electric company.
I’m not currently using there products, just a company that I reached out to for potential future use. They sent me all the spec sheets with dimensions and were generally very helpful, even offered to meet in person to discuss my needs.
