Hey folks - I’ve been ordering plenty off Amazon, and after setting up that dreaded EzWAy App, things have been coming smoothly. But I’ve been reading and seeing that Shopee is a good alternative and I would like to try it out. I tried to set it up and failed, then after a few weeks of procrastinating, I’m no better than I was back then: stuck.
A lot of that probably has to do with what has already been said: the TW site is hard to use, the translation in-browser doesn’t seem to work (I read folks saying “english site” but I’m dredging through a lot of chinese pages I am trying to see through my phone).
I (think I) created my account, assumedly setup with address and dropoff point, and credit card, I go to purchase an item and add to cart and ship and .. nothing. It states (in chinese) that the delivery method doesn’t work. I look around a bit more, try other items.. nothing. I go to the help page and try the chat, and it says I am “frozen”.
Anyone else experience these issues? I’m reaching out through a google form apparently, although I saw there was a phone customer support number in there I may try tomorrow.
Is the solution to download yet another app to shop?
The product page might list every possible shipping option, discount, item size, etc., but note that when you check out many options might not actually be available.
This one got me before: Even though you might have only one item in your cart, you still must manually check this box or nothing will happen.
I’m not actually using the app, I am using the browser on my computer (I was asking if I should switch to the app though).
the ticking the item in the cart was don, I tried different items even. My guess is my newly setup account is somehow flagged because I am using a VPN or add blockers… (I tried on a diff computer but somehow same result )
And regarding this: Not all sellers support all delivery options.
Often, shipping to a Shopee store is free (sometimes you need to activate some coupons first and then select them during checkout) - convenience store delivery often comes at a cost unless you meet a minimum that depends on the seller (might be $199, $299, $399 or something - often higher for 711/FamilyMart than OkMart / HiLife). Shipping to your home almost always costs money.
From the Shopee website, when I use the QR code to get the app download, it states the app is not available for my region so that might be why I don’t have the app yet - On to try googling how to install if not from same region…
For iOS, you need to create a second AppleId for Taiwan.
It’s a bit of a PITA that many companies restrict their apps to the “local” AppStores. Apparently, they believe that people never move across countries in their life and won’t ever need to download local apps while on vacation…
