I’m looking for a gym that offers a month-to-month (or even shorter term) membership for a reasonable price. Nothing fancy - just some place that has a treadmill and some weights is good enough. Most places I’ve heard of are either way too expensive or only offer yearly memberships. I know there must be some other options out there - any suggestions?
You want find one of the government run gyms. They are usually below par compared with the likes of Golds but never-the-less contain all the nesesary stuff. One that springs to mind is within the swimming pool complex at Taipei city’s Youth park. You’ll find it next to the new looking golf driving range on the KuoHsing - ShuiYuan rd junction.
Alternativly, Tai Da university has just opened it’s new sports facility on HsinSheng South Rd. Sec 3. It’s on the far North side of the Campus. A friend has seen the facilities and was impressed though they don’t have many free weights.
Prices are 5000 NT for 6 months and you can purchase monthly membership too.
Enjoy.
it costs a bit more than other membership plans, but i know that the gold’s at da an offers a month to month membership plan…
I am interested in a membership at Tai Da as I live just across the road. Who would I have to approach? Can I just walk in there and ask for a membership?
Please, help

there,s a good little gym across the road from tai da, taipeigym, A Ding is the boss and really relaxed and it’s a good gym. it’s hsin sheng south rd, section 3, the next lane down from from lane 54 in the basement. look for the glasses shop as a land mark. the gym is next to it in the lane.
cheers
If you just want to join a gym on a short term basis, you can look into getting a coupon book. You purchase a book of tickets and everytime you drop in you give them a coupon. Every gym has a different rate … so shop around your area.
I’ve never heard of this before. It sounds ideal. Do you have any more information?
Does anyone know if this is still true?
I have the perfect place for you. It’s in the Chungshan Sports Centre complex. Take the red line to Shuanglian MRT station. Go out exit 1 and turn right. You’ll see a path. Walk along it for 3 minutes or so until you come to the down ramp. Go down the ramp and cross the street. Go up the side street. Chungshan Sports Centre is half a block up on the right side. You can’t miss it. It has treadmills, weight machines and free weights. It coststs NT50 each time you go. There is also an excellent swimming pool there. The complex was only built about 1 1/2 years ago, so is quite new and a wonderful place to work out.
