Should I ditch my racoon sig or keep it?

I got a PM from someone politely asking me to consider another sig. Erhu has also said she’d like to see the rascally racoon get the chop.

On the other hand, little red riding hood and her pet racoon have received several fan mails.
So to be fair, I think we should have a vote.
What do people think? Should I get rid of it or keep it?

[Edit: this was the original version
]

It makes me feel very inadequate

I don’t mind the racoon, but for some reason, when Little Red Riding Hood say’s “wow,” I find it particularly annoying. Can’t you just somehow ditch Little Red Riding Hood and keep the raccoon?

Why not put a poll at the top of this thread?

It makes me scroll past your posts though or at least scroll until the little bugger is off the screen.

The damn poll keeps screwing around.
Can some kind mod fix it for me?
I made a slight edit and it disappeared altogether then all of sudden it’s got four choices…arrrggghhh!

Is it actually a racoon? Obviously I’d always assumed it was the Big Bad Wolf, emphasis on the former attribute

The racoon is OK but the daft faux-coy Chinese girl is very annoying.

Can’t fix the poll sorry.

As for the question. It would be better if she got her kit off

It was amusing to look at once, but now I find it more and more annoying. I’ll be glad if you get rid of it.

On the subject of short video clips in general, I find it irritating when they flash from one shot to another too quickly. I much prefer to view lingering shots that I can take in at leisure, rather than looking at something that flashes on and off in just a second or less.

Now if you could replace it with something like the knee-bendingly kawaii enchantment of MT’s ertswhile avatar or, along the lines of Brian’s suggestion, a luscious little cutie peeling off her clothes, that would be very nice indeed.

It’s interesting that Hexuan mentioned the ‘daft faux coyness’ of the Chinese (Japanese?) girl.
I think it’s a Japanese thing which Taiwanese have picked up on. It’s the I’m-all-cute-and-girly act. MT’s old avatar was a classic example.
Some Taiwanese girls well into their twenties do it - pouting, with toes pointed inwards as if they’re nine years old. All very mannered. God knows why they do it. Perhaps it’s for the attention.

I think if you used an image editor to loop just the raccoon, it would be a lot cuter.

I like the girl.

As long as she’s over 14.

Where did you get the Big Balled Wolf and the previous one, which I thought was a girl picking her nose and then putting the “results” in her mouth? I found both of them amusing. As to the 25 year old local females acting like 9 year olds, I laughed when I read that. I can not stand the:

  1. pout
  2. the hook toes routine
and worst of all the Taiwanese Child-Girl but in fact 40 years old doing the whinnnnnnnnnnne. In particular when done in tandem with 1 or 2 or shaking their little girl fist (with the age lines/blue veins showing).

It is not that I would ever “bitch slap” them,no, I am rather seized by the desire to crush their little air heads.

As one might surmise neither my first taiwanese wife nor my second one did that.

take care
Brian

I voted to keep it. I like imitating the little dance when I get out of the shower.

Spacks sig is from a Japanese housing company ad, see the full versions here:

their other red ridding hood ads are here:

first also explains the large gonads

I say keep it. If you want, I’ll rip through it and get rid of the little girl part.

Actually, it’s not a racoon. It’s a tanuki, which is a Japanese animal.

Here’s something off the Net:
Tanuki are very common in Japanese folklore, and are regarded as tricksters which can change their shape and have supernatural powers. They often change their shape to play tricks on travellers. Tanuki are said to love sake, and often change into human form, paying for their drink with money that turns out to be tree leaves.
Their large testicles are a representation of fertility and good fortune, and are said to be the source of their magical powers. The tanuki’s large testicles are associated with wealth because the Japanese colloquial word for testicle is kindama, which means golden ball. In Japanese mythology, the Tanuki’s scrotum can be enlarged to as much as eight tatami mats (one tatami is about 6’x3’) and they play them like a drum.
By the way, tanuki are not racoons, and are actually a member of the dog family. They are properly known as racoon dogs (Nyctereutes Procyonoides).
Tanuki are featured in one of Japanese director Miyazaki’s films doing many of the things listed above. But it’s the only one of his movies I would say don’t bother watching.

Ditch it.
Find something that represents YOU and keep it.
When you think of Wolf, you probably think of the black widow crawling and it seems fitting.
Pick something you like and stick with it. I personally don’t like people changing their avatars so often. I like the identity of, say, Maoman and his running puppy.
Maybe you should be asking a different question: What sort of avatar do you think I represent?

It’s a signature, not an avatar. I’ve had my penguin as my avatar ever since I joined in 2002 and haven’t changed it once.
For my sig I want something entertaining. I only changed my previous sig because the site that did my row of smiley gifs broke off the links.

The sig rules. It never fails to amuse me when jumping onto the 'Mosa after a hellish day at work.
