Shrimp fishing and a mountain-type restaurant in one go?

Any recommendations for a one-day plan, starting in Taipei, that would allow for a spot of shrimp fishing (indoor or outdoor) followed by a meal later in the day at one of those restaurants that specialize in “mountain” foods? I can’t remember the exact dishes they had but I remember going to one some years ago with a company trip of some kind. I think it was Yangmingshan or Beitou. Extra points for public transportation accessibility

I like Chelun in Waishuangxi (車輪釣蝦場). No. 485, Section 2, Zhishan Rd, Shilin District, Taipei City. You can take Bus 255 from Shilin station.

You could eat there at their outside seating–the suanla shrimp is excellent.

Or you could make your way up to Wanxi Restaurant 萬溪餐坊. They have free range chicken, trout etc, which is what I think you mean by a mountain restaurant. No. 96, Lane 290, Section 3, Zhìshàn Rd, Shilin District, Taipei City, 11143. You can take Bus 18 up there.

Awesome, thanks!

Just keep in mind that it might be hot, sweaty, and smelly after a few hours of shrimp fishing. A lot of people just go ahead and eat there as you’re not really prepared to go to a nice restaurant after that.

Considering making that the last stop of the day for some fun relaxation and a light snack before heading home at the end of the day. They are open 24 hours a day or nearly 24 hours a day anyway.

There used to be a beautiful mountain food restaurant on lane 71 just 2 minutes off of Zhishan section 3. They had a stream running through the property and Chinese lanterns and was beautiful to walk thru after the meal. But I’m not sure they are still open I don’t remember the name.

Good point!
