Why is Shylock discussion locked? Seemed to me to be a valid discussion on the direction of the site. Also, is such dismissive moderating really what’s called for?
In your case, yes!
In your case, yes!
Pick that scab, BJ!
You know, I sort of feel like Trotsky after he was kicked out of the USSR…having to use a different name, many of the mods watching closely, locking/temping, and ready to unleash the powers of the state after me.
Like anyone in Taiwan has an icepick.
try this
And of course, in your home and office there are no rules or enforcement of any kind, right? Pure free creative chaos! Bwahahahahahaaa!
In your case, yes!
Seriously? :no-no:
I locked it. The OP’s point has been noted. The mods are aware of the issue. People clearly disagree about it. Ample arguments have been made on both sides and nothing new is likely to be added at this point. Ironlady summarized the situation well in her last post.
How long do you give this one then?
TS -
You have to be very damn careful invoking that “dismissive” moderating thing. Some of the moderato amigos are muy touchy about that descriptor.
Having said that, I share your amazement at the locking of such an ongoing thread.
Bit of content manipulation?
Senor ChewDawg…just make sure you do not vacation en Mehico.
After two children go back and forth “Yes I did.” “No you didn’t.” “Yes I did”. “No you didn’t” a couple of times, the parent says “Enough.” Very simple.

I see the Feedback Forum as intended for that purpose and not for continual back-and-forth discussion of individual moderator decisions. If a thread enters that territory it’s a candidate for locking in my view.
Ergo, reason for continued discussion
Ample arguments have been made on both sides and nothing new is likely to be added at this point.
No, this is not supported by fact. Unless, one wishes to discount the intellectual contributions of fellow forum members.
Ironlady summarized the situation well in her last post.
So? This comment is belittling to the forum members and their contributions to threads on this site. Do you really want to use this type of comment as a reason for locking further discussion?

Sure, so why not move the discussion between poster and mods to an appropriate forum where the discussion may continue?
Oh, and look, the condescension card has already been played. Yay! :bravo:
Not that I really care, as I know what’s vile and not, but posting here keeps my fingers limber as I missed my writing time block today.
Is this thread locked yet?
Exactly the 'tude I am talking about.
Why would anyone in their right mind want to contribute (read: be sold) to such an arrogant place?
I’ve been around this site for 10 years. I’ve had my share of battles and possibly hold the record for suspensions. Yet: I still like discussing issues with this crowd and am even starting to enjoy the posts of old nemeses. Not all mind you. I find myself agreeing with TC more and more and have actually centralized my position on politics due to some fantastic discussions herein. I am not bent out of shape, (nor prone to cursing) about locking this thread even though I believe it is a prime example of this pervasive us v them 'tude I thought travelled down the superhighway to The T’ease.
Ironlady, you are not our handler, our au paire, our teacher nor our parent. I don’t care what you lock, flame or flounder. I only wish you could harness your snarkasm. It is not needed on The New Flob.

Not to all forum members; just to those who like to use the forum as a playful vehicle to heckle the mods.

Surely you have other means to shackle jd…erm…them other than punishing the entire community. That aside, set an example by stowing the snarkasm safely and securely in your overhead compartment. Now we are ready to soar with the eagles.
