Singapore you say?

Well, well, well.

If this isn’t a reason to visit the hot sweaty city…what is?

Macao is closer.

Guess Genting (Highlands) in Malaysia is going to loose some business.

Yeah, but the casinos there suck, and are full of hookers and triad gangsters shooting each other.

But the African chicken is awesome!

It’s about time Taiwan builds a few casinos on Penghu …

They need to build the bridge first.

Macau’s changing very rapidly. The Sands is far more popular than the old Lisboa. and The Venetian is on it’s way.

Macau’s is miles ahead of Singapore and has the added appeal of nestling next to Zhuhai. Come visit the workers’ paradise.

I am sure the hookers are pleased…As Singapore becomes a gambling den, the freelance hookers a at Orchard Towers and the government-certified hookers in Geylang will be raking in a lots and lots of cash.

Medical tourism, a clean city, foreign talent schemes for most professions, clean and efficient government, and now gambling – Lee Kuan Yew deserves a :bravo: .

I hate to sound cynical but anything progressive is Sg is all about making money for 1 group of companies, Temasek Holdings, owned by the family of the PM.

Apparently they’re the same lot that launder Her Majesty’s gloves.

I agree 100 percent. The government has its finger in everything from taxi cabs to the Apple Daily (Singapore’s government is a co-owner).

I also think the Internal Security Act is antiquated (Malay communits no longer threaten the government), the government newspapers are shit (I know – I worked for them), and the current PM has more than his fair share of enemies (he onced slapped a PAP politician in the face). For a country that values meritocracy, the current PM got to where he is by being LKY’s son.

That aside, after living in Taiwan for four years I can appreciate a country that is clean, that has brand new condos with great craftmanship, that has great hospitals, efficient government bureaucrats, and lots of opportunities for graduates from good schools. :smiling_imp:

I didn’t know there was anymore room in Singapore to build anything…

They don’t. That’s why they’re reclaiming land like nuts. At the rate they’re going, one can soon literally hop over the ever shrinking Terbrau Straits (between Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore) and no more need for the Causeway.
