My friend have insomnia issues and couldn’t sleep even after taking an Ambien which used to work before.
So, any recommendations for sleep clinic?

Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital
新光醫療財團法人新光吳火獅紀念醫院
is very nice, quality doctors speak English, comfortable sleep test rooms. I had the full monty.
Another one at Xizhi Cathay General Hospital 汐止國泰綜合醫院
I know TMUH has a sleep center, but no idea how long it takes to get into.
I’m curious though — aren’t sleep clinics more about sleep apnea and stuff rather than insomnia? From what you wrote, it seems more of a psychological thing?
If the goal is to try different sleeping drugs, maybe a psychiatrist would be better, as well as faster? In that case, the Skybright clinic in Tianmu is pretty good, albeit I think a little more expensive than other local psychiatric clinics. I went there a couple of times recently on a friend’s recommendation, also because I was (/am) sleeping badly (/even worse than usual).
天晴診所
Am outside at the moment, but if it’s useful I can check the name of the specific doctor I saw, as well as the one my friend recommended (she wasn’t available on the day I went, but I was also pleasantly surprised by how much time my guy spent talking with me, when I was mostly looking for drugs to knock me out a couple of times per week to help maintain a regular sleeping pattern).
I don’t really know, but I thought they work on anything sleep related.
I think he’s trying to fix the root cause rather than circumventing the symptoms.
But thanks for the suggestion, I’ll pass it to him anyway!
I’m not sure if he can’t fall asleep or if he awakes and can’t get back to sleep.
Either way, I assume you’re recommendations will be helpful to him.
Thanks!
Hey man, tell your friend to be careful with sleep doctors in Taiwan. They’re quick to prescribe benzos like Lorazepam that can be addictive even with two weeks of use. Better to try cognitive behavioral therapy if your friend can afford it or some “home remedies” like working out at night (physically exhausting yourself) or melatonin
Unfortunately sleep clinics often just give out pills for sleep
Thanks for the heads up!
In fact, he went to see a clinic near his home today and went home with a week of prescription for some pills, I don’t know what.
Edit: it was Lexotan
Where? My sleep doctors said they don’t prescribe anything like that. They said have to go to a psychologist for sleep aids.
The only thing doctors would prescribe is Ambien and like a week or two only to help people adjust to using a CPAP
Was it a Sleep Clinic or just a regular clinic? Some doctors have a latitude to prescribe something like that I think maximum 7 days or maybe 14 days
Kind of interesting that those are anxiety drugs also useful for sleeping and that they didn’t prescribe a typical sleeping Med like ambien
He said it was a sleep clinic, but a random one he found on Google maps
Can go to Mackay in tamsui. I went there and was diagnosed with sleep apnea pretty recently. They’ll say the waiting list is super long but actually you can get bumped up easily. They said three months at first then I got in the next week
.
Can you get that in Taiwan?
is Melatonin not allowed? Amazon doesn’t allow shipping to TW.
Any other sources?
Yes, it’s not allowed in Taiwan.
Hmm. Just asked at local pharmacy and it was there on the shelf right by the service desk
I also know where it’s sold. Ask how much. You will be shocked. But I guess they can get away with since it’s technically not allowed.
Are you sure it was melatonin, as opposed to a melatonin receptor agonist?
Definitely said melatonin on the pack. 30 tablets for TWD1500 ![]()
