My Taiwanese friend has a DVR(directv or dishnetwork, forgot which one)
and a Slingbox in his cousin’s house in Burlington, VT. His cousin’s
FIOS service allows him to upload at 3mbps. Unfortunately, my Taiwanese
friend’s apartment in Taipei only has 1 or 2mbps download capability…
To sum it up: Playboy Channel and pay-per-view porn. (neither of which are
available in Taiwan)

Playboy channel is available here on the local ST1 satellite for Taiwan. You can get it with digital cable tv boxes for an extra few $$$ per month.

Is it the same XXX-rated hardcore version of Playboy Channel as shown in the US?
Just curious…
There is only one playboy channel and yes it the US one.
wow… can’t believe the Taiwanese government censors would allow they to show the
full US version of Playboy channel…
For example, late last night, I was watching a super hard core porn video on the Playboy
Channel here. They showed everything, including pentration into every possible hole.
(mods: please feel free to alter the words I’ve used, since I couldn’t figure out how else
to put it clearly)
My Dad is a tv junkie too. If I use the slingbox on his tv and dvr, can he still use it too? Or do I have to hook up a separate one to get the full functionality I crave?
If you share a media input/connection (cable, sat, dvr, etc) then when one changes the channel or the like then it changes for the other. Easiest way around this is not to share the input and have a stand alone input - easy for cable more expensive for others. It has been a long day and proper terminology is lacking.
question–slingbox says you need a minimum upload speed of 256Kbps. I assume this means Kilobytes. My Hinet connection says my speed is 100 Mbps. I assume that is megabytes. But it seems impossible that my Hinet is 500 times faster than the minumium required speed for slingbox. My Hinet is fast --but not that fast???
