I’m having problems with my Internet connection speed. It seems to be that every few months my Internet speed drops radically. Currently page loading time can be a minute or more.
Last time it happened we upped the package for greater speed.
My laptop is not the problem - it works fine elsewhere.
I read with interest the Hinet thread and changing from dynamic to static to improve speed. My provider is SoNet but I presume they would have a similar structure?
The difficulty is that my account is arranged and paid for by the landlord who is now living in Europe.
Can anyone advise on some steps to sort out this issue. Steps, that ideally don’t involve the landlord.
Im not too familiar with SoNet, the dynamic/static ip may be applicable to sonet also, I guess the only way would be to try. Other than that and using a sonet proxy if you arent already, and your machine is setup working fine everything good etc, I doubt much can be done.
…out for a possible means to increase Internet speed. As soon as I find out the make of my router, I’m going to give it a go.
I think, however, my Internet problem may require some knowledgeable attention. I share it with another apartment - thats where the router/hub is - and there is a total of four people using the same connection. Two of those people cannot even get a connection. On my Mac, yes, as can another using a PC. Like I say the solution to our problems is a bit beyond our combined and very average tech skills. We might have to call in the SoNet man.
