I am trying to find a store that sells small chicken to use to roast. The chickens they sell cooked at COSCO are the right size but they usually don’t have them for sale.
The cost for this size chicken should be cheap in Taiwan compared to the large chickens they sell in restaurants.
Anyone know were I can find these and the cost?
Any Carrefore should have small sized chickens (the size of the costco ones). The local black chickens are a perfect size though maybe better for soup. Some of the free range mountain chickens are the right size. NT200-300. Non-free range is cheaper but no where near as tasty. Taiwan chicken’s rock!!
I had a really bad experience with free range chicken from carrefour. It came out really chewy and the meat didn’t taste right. And yes, I have made roast chicken before and it hasn’t come out like this thing, just saying…
Get yourself to any local morning market; beautiful, fresh whole chickens for cheap. I live by the Xin Long market here in Wenshan and they always have beautiful whole chickens and they roast really well.
