So, Elon Musk Wants to End World Hunger for fun

This will be allocated as follows: US$3.5 billion for food and its delivery, including the cost of shipping and transport to the country, plus warehousing and “last mile” delivery of food using air, land and river transport, contracted truck drivers and required security escorts in conflict-affected zones to distribute food to those who need it most; US$2 billion for cash and food vouchers (including transaction fees) in places where markets can function - this type of assistance enables those most in need to buy the food of their choice and supports local economies; US$700 million for country-specific costs to design, scale up and manage the implementation of efficient and effective programmes for millions of tons more food and cash transfers and vouchers – adapted to the in-country conditions and operational risks in 43 countries (this includes office and satellite-office facilities and their security, and the monitoring of distributions and results, ensuring the assistance reaches the most vulnerable); and US$400 million for global and regional operations management, administration and accountability , including coordination of global supply lines and aviation routes; global logistics coordination such as freight contracting; global monitoring and analysis of hunger worldwide; and risk management and independent auditors dedicated to oversight.

Now what?

Did the UN/WFP agree to his condition of transparent accounting?

Anywho, Bill Gates already has the toilets… Someone has to fill the void…

It’s a shit plan. It’s hardly even a plan, just a basic list. You’d think they would take the opportunity to reveal something solid. It’s like they just made this on short notice – they didn’t have a wish list / strategy before Musk made the offer?

Also, this doesn’t “solve world hunger”, it feeds people for a year. Would do better to help a smaller number of people in a more meaningful and lasting way, with infrastructure, education, whatever else, to make people more self-sufficient.

Would he even more meaningful if he paid any taxes at all so the US government could support families who don’t have money because people like him make all the money and it doesn’t tinkle down to the people at the bottom, who can work 100 hours a week and still can’t feed their families. Oh, but we’re a meritocracy. He worked hard so he shouldn’t have to pay taxes.

You could write for MSNBC.

His employees pay enough, so he shouldn’t. It trickles down.

Wow this post sounds familiar

Plot twist: @DonR is a headhunter for MSNBC, hiding in broad daylight! You cheeky scoundrel you.

They weren’t saying they would with that money. That was Elon falsely representing what they said so he could respond without paying.

It will fail like all attempts to “feed the world” have failed because just hurling money at it doesn’t fix the issue.

First of all, how much of that money is going to be squirrelled away by corrupt officials elsewhere? I guarantee a significant percentage of it. Happens all the time.

That’s what I was thinking.

Aren’t solving these concepts, ‘world peace,’ and ‘world hunger,’ things children dream of? They are unattainable. He’s better off flying to the moon and exploring space with his other rich buddies. At least it’s a diversion from reality.

Crack on with your fast cars, Elon.

" One of the most alarming claims along with repeated incidents of being subject to racial slurs is that a number of Black employees were allegedly moved to the back of the plant when Tesla CEO Elon Musk would visit the plant because “they didn’t want a Black face up there.”"

Is he really a racist? It would be really difficult to move all the Chinese to the back in the Shanghai factory.

If Musk could work toward a solution to this huge, under-reported issue, that would be excellent. Too bad he is far too much of a narcissist to do so. Perhaps his PR gurus could convince the ROI would be big enough:

I mean he also wants Taiwan to become part of China, so I don’t think human rights are very high on his list of priorities…
