So Much for Bush Being a Religious Fanatic

not exactly
most of the tax money goes direct to the Vatican
and every citizen can choose not to join the club

i dont know what the big deal is about church and religon. why does it matter if the president or wannabe prez goes to church or what religon they are. i dont know what my prime ministers religon is, if he has one or if he goes to church, nor do i care. there is supposed to be seperation of church and state, therefore the political leaders should be able to do what is morally right not what is right according to beliefs that are thousands of years old. as it is now with those beliefs people pick and choose which ones they want to support. i think that religon has way too much influence in the usa. every speach has god in it, its written on your money even. now in politics rather than doing the proper thing, there is debate on whether or not to do so because of religous reasons (ie stem cells, abortion).
here is an interesting case about too much religon last summer, unfortunatly i dont have a link to it nor do i want to waste the time to look it up but others can if they want. there were some pharmacy workers in one of the southern states who refused to fill a perscription for the morning after pill, ru486. they claimed it amounted to abortion and abortion was against their religon so they felt they didnt have to. it didnt matter that it was their job to fill perscriptions and not to argue about whether the person should get it. they felt they shouldnt give the drug. as it turns out the woman who wanted it was raped the day before. so these religous do-gooders felt it was immoral of her to take this medication and instead should go through with the pregnancy (if there was conception) of her rapists child to have as a constant reminder of it all. they felt it was their job to impose their beliefs on someone else. when they got fired they tried calling it a case of religous persecution.

Depends if you live in a secular country or not.

I’d have to see a link to that “rape” and refusal to fill that prescription. Sounds like an urban myth to me. I could be wrong but until I see the link, I ain’t buying it.

Interesting article on the ridiculous idea that the US was “founded on Christianity” as the Right so love to tell.

It seems the founders dissed Xianity more often than they praised it.
