At leat you’ve dropped the noble rhetoric about liberation and democracy. Due to no fault of their own, and without their consent, the Iraqi people are being used as human sheilds.
I’m sure the Iraqis will be totally wiling to forgive us for the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians in their country. I’m sure they’ll understand why it’s better that we made their home the main front in the terror war. After all, what decent Iraqi would wish that kind of hell on New York?
More Iraqis were dying before we ever got involved because of the UN and French corruption and Saddam and his thugs. Get that straight. Ask any Shia or Kurd and they will be more than happy with the present situation as opposed to what happened in the past. That is 80 to 85 percent of the population. Think about that.
Also, remember that Spain and the UK and India among others learned to live with a certain amount of terrorism and insurgency for up to 50 years. That is probably what Rumsfeld is talking about.
Remember that Corsicans, Basques, IRA among others continue to bomb in all these supposedly safe and enlightened European countries. The Baader Meinhof and the Reds also had bombing campaigns in Germany, Italy and Japan. What happened?
