Do the blues seem to be getting off a tad easy for the scarlet-handed vote buying incident? As I recall, the I-forget-his-name candidate for the KMT accused the DPP of vile, unfounded, last-minute, election-swaying trickery, and party leader Ma backed him up. Now, when the accusations appear to be very solid, there is little concern for the ridiculous whining of said candidate and leader, and indeed hardly even for the distinctly brazen vote-buying incident itself.
Can you imagine the uproar if Frank Hsieh’s people were caught in a similar act?
Frank Hsieh has been shown to be one of the biggest crooks on the island, and what happened to him?
They got him out of Kaoshiung ahead of the investigators and moved his sorry a** to Taipei to roll with the big dogs.
Up & out, they all cover-up for their thievery.
There are about 20-30 pages on the rail workers abuse claims and police raids on their domiciles along with Frankies money and bribery scandals on here. Search is your friend.
I’m kind of fed up with all the talks about corruption and vote buying … I guess we have to get used to it, it’s Taiwan after all … but not that it matters … mostly politicians think about their own carreers and pockets and then, when there is some time left they think about the country and the general population,
If they get caught, the better … but most politicians are scum … and the top of the froth.
DPP, KMT, PFP … you name it it’s all the same, some worse and some have free license to do it … or they think they have the right to it.

I agree. It’s quite appalling to watch TV these days with the same stuff replayed over and over again. Some of these goons really deserve a good beating.

That would be the guilt of not properly overseeing a huge project under his direct authority. I agree, he is certainly guilty there. It is disgusting how the people of this island tend to see other humans as better or lesser according to the development level of their home country. In this tendency, I suspect Taiwanese are all about the same, regardless of their political affiliation.
But I don’t think Frank Hsieh can be accused of pocketing a portion of the money skimmed on the MRT project without showing some evidence, or at least a plausible likelihood. Judging from the number of corruption probes going on in Kaohsiung at the moment, I’d say Hsieh was kind of tough on corruption and people operating under him who were on the take probably hid it from him rather than offered to cut him in. Sure, I could be wrong, but that’s my hunch.
