Social Protest in Taipei

Hello there,

I am relatively new in Taipei, but I have the impression that there regularly are demonstrations near the presidential palace, such as the farmers’ movement(s) during the past few weeks.

I would like to witness and photograph some of these events, but I only find out about them afterwards (by reading the newspaper). Is there a website where such events are collected?

Thank a lot!

Well, Kulaowang is the go-to site on Taiwan’s social movements. blog.taiwan-guide.org/2011/07/fa … #more-8327

I would suggest getting together with a native Taiwanese friend and reading the LIBERTY TIMES and APPLE DAILY every day. Those papers should have lots of news on what’s happening.

I have found Facebook is the best source of information although you need some Chinese reading ability. You just need to join certain groups or be friends with people actively involved in protest movements and you will get invitations to many events.

Thank you very much for your information, I have already made a huge step forward!
