Software to make Banner Ads!

Can someone tell me some programs I can use to make internet banner ads? I need something easy and self explaining. I was recommended to use Macromedia Fireworks, but honestly I have no clue how to use Dreamweaver and am finding it very very difficult. Thanks in advance.

I don’t use Dreamweaver, but I am a happy Fireworks user. I’ve tried to switch to Adobe ImageReady, but I’m so used to the Fireworks commands that it is difficult for me to learn new tricks.

PaintShop Pro gets high marks from people – and it’s much cheaper than Macromedia and Adobe’s offerings. But I run into the same learning curve as with ImageReady, it’s too steep an incline for me to hurdle

I’ve never tried making web banners using Paint or other basic windows tolls. I suspect that whatever you are comfortable using is fine, so long as you can deliver them in JPG, PNG or GIF format

Thank Gus though as I have no experience in making banners I am guessing it is going to take me some time to learn the ropes no matter which program I use. I was hoping there was a software pakage out there specifically for making banners.

Prefer Image Ready myself. Also, animated gif has advantages vis-a-vis compatibility.

Is it easy to use and create banners for someone who doesn’t know what they are doing?

I did the marketing for ‘the’ actual standard in GIF banner creation: Ulead GIF Animator 5. It is the #1 program with the most downloads at download.com. You can get information about it here:

ulead.com/ga/runme.htm

You may be able to download a free trail from the site. It does everything you need for GIF banner creation, including object-based animation and text effectts. Just open the program, tell it what size banner you want (as there are different standards, i.e. vertical/horizontal), then just start adding objects, including any imported images from Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, etc. You can add text objects, and animate all through frame by frame placement. Then optimize and preview. You can also import video files and then edit them.

Thanks pinesay I will give it a whirl. Sounds like an awesome program and exactely what I need!

I use Corel Draw for layout, then export as a large .jpg, then resample it and adjust page size in Corel Photopaint (or Photoshop when my )@#@#@#$ laptop is working…or I suppose I could just FIND my Photoshop CD and install it on my desktop, but that would be far too logical ).
