Some places maybe shouldn't get a zoo

Tragedy all around. Animals either drowning in their enclosures or escaping and then shot dead.
Maybe some places prone to natural disasters like flooding should NOT have a zoo.

Bad enough to have to deal with saving humans trapped in flood waters and still dealing with animals as well.

Zoos as they are now -a very sad spectacle and a business, competing in size and exotic appeal- should not exist at all. As educational centers and harbors to rehabilitate or home animals that have been abandoned or injured in the wild, yes.

When tragedies like this happen, lack of funding is quoted. And since all economies are strapped, incidents like this sad fully remind us that the current zoo model is passé and an affront to human decency. However, as Tommy says, some places cannot take care f humans, least of all animals.
