✈ Songshan Airport | When to be at airport for flight to Kinmen

When booked flights to penghu and taitung last year couldn’t use my arc at all, and when I tried to select on the website the ARC I was asked for the passport since my nationality is not Taiwan Roc…

So booking requires passport, but not boarding? I didn’t book myself so not sure about that step.

All of them, including the two that are no longer. The standby passenger list rules don’t change between the airlines. Make sure you have your boarding pass at least 30 minutes prior to take off. 30 minutes prior to take off is when they call standby passengers.

As someone who has traveled by plane between the mainisland and Kinmen pretty much monthly for nearly the past decade, I assure you, your ARC card is enough. I have never been asked for my passport after I hand them my ARC card.

I have entered my ARC number into the “passport” spot on the form many times and never had a problem getting my boarding pass.

I don’t really know what to say here. I just booked a flight to Kinmen using my ARC number (under the passport number section, as the other is for National ID numbers only, which we all know an ARC number is not…) and there was no problem.

Wow. You play it very safe. I don’t know if I’ve ever shown up to the airport for a domestic flight in TW more than 40 minutes before take off, even during LNY and summer travel seasons. Sometimes I get my boarding pass earlier in the day, chill out near the airport, and head over 10 minutes before take off. There aren’t really enough flights to ever have more than a five minute wait, especially at security where they don’t have stupid AF rules like in the US.

lucky you, once I had to rebook a ticket at the check in counter since the travel agency made a mistake with my name, I tried to rebook with the ARC, they simply gave back to me and used my passport.

Will try this approach, but the website is so unclear that I think that is like a loophole (a good one ofc).

Shit happens, I ran close many times to gates closure due to delays, and I have a fear for it. Prefer to play safe, or anxiety kills me. Flown so many times, but still very anxious until my ass is on the destination means of transport with all my bags.

Not sure I ever got clarity on the timing for checking a bag. Is an hour ahead good for that?

No earlier than an hour ahead of take off, if I remember correctly

To clarify that this is not a mistake, you’re saying you must wait until within an hour of the flight? Cannot be earlier than that? Or that’s the cutoff and cannot be later than that?

I’m not totally certain, but there is not a lot of time between take off and when you can start to check bags. I’m pretty sure it’s 1 hour

wow…we must be talking about a really small airport! haha

I myself just booked a flight on Uni Air to Penghu, ARC worked fine, as always. But ARC number problems don’t surprise me at all. @Mataiou which airline did you have this situation with?

I swear they changed it! I flew to penghu and taitung all with uni air and couldn’t use/put my passport!

Much happier though, thanks for making me aware of this!

Talking from experience as a travel agent by trade -
Whoever was checking you in was an idiot. Names do not need to be exact for domestic flights. Although ideally they are, it isn’t really a problem unless someone with a bee in their bonnet makes it one. Also they could correct the name for free if they wanted.

When travelling internationally the name should be exact but again, check in staff can have it fixed it if they want to. I actually accidentally booked my husbands surname and first name the wrong way around recently with Singapore Airlines. Tapei - Melbourne; the check in guy noticed, fixed it for free and issued the boarding passes with the correct name. Melbourne - Singapore; the check in lady didn’t notice and boarding pass issued with the name the wrong way around, no issues. Singapore - Taipei; check in lady must have noticed but didn’t say anything and issued the boarding pass with the correct name.

In saying that making name corrections after genuine mistakes on Airline tickets is no easy task. But not always a necessary one. It’s possible to be denied boarding for international flights. I guess it depends on how obvious it is that the mistake is a genuine error or the ticket was meant for someone else.

Yeah Songshan is tiny. I think they might only use four gates for domestic flights :joy:.

Keep in mind everything I said above is for domestic flights. There are international flights out of TSA (to Japan, China, HK, Korea) that will have airline-relevant and international travel requirements

He seemed like one… Had to comply since we were running close to gate closure due to this stupid mistake… They even asked to see the passport of my gf since she booked with her pinyin spelled name but had with her “only” her id card, so they couldn’t be sure it was her…

This happened to me once before too when I travelled with a Taiwanese person. He didn’t have his passport on him, he just argued with the check in guy until they let him board. At that time I didn’t have an ARC and was on a working holiday visa so they were playing pass the parcel with my passport and just being generally stupid. Kept asking for my ARC which I didn’t have and wasn’t eligible for.

I’ve found that employees in Taiwan have much lower job knowledge compared to Australia. But Taiwanese service is much nicer. But they just do a poor job nicely. Australian’s do a good job not so nicely haha

I prefer competent albeit rough service to nice but incompetent.

I need this, there u go and bugger off, thanks and fuck u too. Peace

This is half my personality

sorry for so many questions. So I did my online checkin for Uniair out of Songshan. We were all issued ticket numbers which I screenshotted. Now what? No electronic boarding passes so do we need to get those at a check in counter?
