My son is two years old, so it might be a bit soon to be asking this, but my son seems to have inherited an aptitude for sport that missed me, and I was wondering if parents on this forum have experience providing chances for their young children to enjoy sports with children their age? For example, my son just loves kicking a ball around and I would like him to have a chance to kick the ball/“play” soccer/rugby/football with other children, without paying lots of money or having it turn into a serious training session. Actually, I would prefer free and 100% casual fun, but maybe with people who actually know how to play these games. Is there a group of young, sports-minded children and parents out there already that we could join?
I am looking for the same thing. My son is the same age. I hope you find it.
I dont know if there are groups who do this, but at about the same age, 2-3, I bought a big bag of those plastic balls and a lightweight plastic baseball bat. I pitched to my son and he developed GREAT hand/eye coordination. Now he has a regular aluminum bat and hits tennis balls.
The trick is: Don’t pitch superslowly. Use a normal throw, and as the kids improve, just start whipping them in.
Oh, btw, protect your groin!
