This was simply a fantastic game. I’d like to send a memo to Hubie Brown and Al Michaels; defensive basketball is freakin’ exciting basketball, and no lame-assed apologetics are needed. Every trip down the floor counts. This series will be about 37 times more scintillating as last year’s finals, which had more David-slaying-Goliath shock value but wasn’t really edge-of-your-seat exciting. Don’t let the score fool you. The Pistons brought it back to under 10 with four minutes to go, but Ginobili wratcheted his scrappy acrobatics up a notch to ice it. You gotta remember that the Pistons just finished an exhausting 7-game series a few days ago, and had to travel, blah blah blah.
I am not going to miss a nano-second of this series. Pistons in 7. You heard it here first.
True, no cliffhangers yet. Game 3 was exciting simply because Detroit avoided going down 3-0. I personally enjoyed game 4 because I’m rooting for the Pistons, but it wasn’t compelling to a neutral observer.
Parker and Ginobili have not been on their games. Is that due to nerves, the stifling Pistons defense, or a combination of both? My guess is that they won’t get back on track until the series shifts back to San Antonio. They’ll have two good-to-great games there, the Spurs will win game 6, and then the Pistons will win a nail-biter in the final game.
The way the series has been unfolding, it’ll be 3-2 Pistons going back to San Antonio for Game 6. Given that, can the Pistons go 4-0 after going 0-2? Or, can the Spurs go 0-4 after going 2-0? If the Pistons show in Game 5 the same confidence and swagger as they’ve been playing up to now, then yeah, they’ll close out the Spurs in Game 6 on the road.
But if the Spurs win Game 6 strong, then they’ll probably win Game 7 the same way. Otherwise, Games 7 will be a toss up… and we have an actual game.
Hmm lets see shall I double up on Ginobli or stay on Robert Horry. The same Robert Horry that’s been knocking down clutch shots since his days in Houston and LA, the same Horry that’s called “Big shot Bob” by his team mates.
Wallace doubles up on Ginobli, Horry with the wide open clutch 3 pointer … game over.
Heh heh! So it turned into a series. The Pistons showed heart of a champion. It’s a toss up. But I think pp, you’re going to be right for picking Pistons in 7.
EDIT: Pistons will win Game 7 because of Chauncey Billips, guard play will dictate the winner of Game 7.
